Smart Metering
Since the 1900s, utility companies, Electricity boards, Commercial and Residential
Builders have hired people to go door to door and take manual readings of electricity
meters, enter them in a database and then finally produce a bill payable.
Hammer Electric has spent the last 5 years in developing a market leading quality
product mix that eliminates the need for hiring expensive manpower (which could be put
to use in various other productive tasks) via a 2 way communication between the meter
and a central server. The biggest benefit of this communication is that the end consumer
will have a real time update on his consumption 24x7 which eliminates:
a. Discrepencies in billing
b. Loss/wastage of energy
c. Miscommunication between the utility/service provider and the end consumer
d. Errors of Omission and Commission
The Solution Has 3 main aspects:
1. Meter - The main meter (3 Phase 4 Wire Whole Current) has an In house PCB
design and assembly. The meter will have the calibration and certification on Bentex
Electronics. It also has IS & IEC Compliance, with various Data Storage and
Communication features, custom fit according to the final requirements of our client.
The meter functions in 4 Quadrants (Electricity Board, Diesel Generators, Wind and
Solar). Latch relays are on every meter for disconnection and reconnection of the
load.
2. In Home Display (IHD): An IHD unit is installed in every consumer’s house, giving
them real time load consumption stats, alerts for missing phase/low balance etc.,
and also a recharge facility in case of prepaid options.
3. Smart Billing Software: All data is communicated and stored on a central server,
which is an independent software. This software has multiple features such as offline
recharges, customisable charges of rates per unit, disconnection and reconnection
of load, multiple source consumption, calculation and billing.
